Hurry, the Solar Credits rebate reduces by up to $1000 on June 30th! Call Now.

There are thousands of dollars in solar rebates, grants and incentives available for homes and businesses, which means you can have a quality solar power or solar hot water system installed for a fraction of its real cost. By investing your solar rebate in a premium SolarSwitch solar power or hot water system you will get true value for money and maximise your returns.

Don’t risk your rebate on inferior quality products or installation, you are entitled to that solar rebate and once it is gone there is no second chance. You don’t have to compromise on quality!

A 1.5kW (kilowatt) solar power system currently attracts a rebate of approximately $2800 (depending on systems size and location), but this is due to reduce on June 30th 2012, so hurry.

SolarSwitch’s expert solar assessors can explain all the rebates available to you and ensure you secure the maximum that is available for your home or business. SolarSwitch can offer many of the rebates as a high point of sale discount so you only pay the difference, or we can also organise finance.

Solar rebates are designed to reward early uptake of technologies like solar power, and so are intended to reduce over time. Often the government has reduced or cut solar rebates entirely without warning so now is always the time to act, because “tomorrow” could be too late. Don’t miss out!

There are several types of solar rebates available to homes and businesses.

Solar Panel Rebates

Every solar power system that is installed in Australia earns “Small-scale Technology Certificates” (STCs). Both residential and commercial solar power installations are entitled to the STC solar rebate and it is not means tested. The number of STCs a system earns depends on the system size in kilowatts and where it is installed in Australia which is determined by postcode. SolarSwitch offer a high point of sale discount to the customer in exchange for these STCs. For the first 1.5kW of solar panels installed the system earns a multiplier of these STCs known as the Solar Credits Rebate, after that point the single STC value applies. The STCs are currently multiplied by 3 times for the first 1.5kW but this is legislated to reduce to 2 times on June 30th 2012 effectively reducing the solar power rebate by up to $1000.

Solar Feed In Tariff

Once your system is installed the solar electricity it generates will be powering your home and if there is any excess it will be fed into the grid. By making your own electricity you will be saving the rate per kilowatt hour that you would normally pay for electricity from the grid. Your power company will also pay you for any excess electricity you feed into the grid. This is known as a feed in tariff and in some states, like QLD, the rate for electricity fed into the grid is much higher than the normal retail electricity rate. SolarSwitch can advise you how to get the most out of your solar power system according to what kind of feed in tariff you have in your state.

Here is a table showing the kind of savings you can make on a 1.5kW system. Remember these savings will increase every year along with electricity prices.

Solar Hot Water Rebates

Every solar hot water system that is installed in Australia earns “Small-scale Technology Certificates” (STCs). The number of STCs a system earns depends on the size of system and where it is installed in Australia which is determined by postcode. SolarSwitch offer a high point of sale discount to the customer in exchange for these STCs. Both residential and commercial solar hot water installations are entitled to the STC solar rebate. The STC solar hot water rebate is worth between $800 and $1400 depending on the size of system installed.

Commercial Solar Rebates

Businesses can now qualify for the Solar Credits Rebate and STCs (detailed above in “Solar Panel Rebates”) on one or multiple solar power systems from 1.5kW to 100kW. Large scale systems bigger than 100kW qualify for Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs). Both these solar rebates are worth thousands to tens of thousands of dollars depending on the system size and are offered as a point of sale discount by SolarSwitch. There are also various other government grants for solar power that SolarSwitch can arrange for your business.
